SSL WEBSITE SECURITY
Rest easy knowing you and your customers data is secure.
What is an SSL certificate?
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer.
An SSL Certificate is an extra layer of encrypted security between your website and your web server, and is designed to stop others from potentially being able see sensitive information given by your customers on your website forms and information is transmitted without the problem of eavesdropping, data tampering, and message forgery.
Why should I get an SSL certificate?
An SSL certificate is an extra layer of encryption security, which makes the information your customers on your website unreadable to everyone except for the server the information is meant to go to.
Whether you are selling goods and services directly from your website, or not selling anything at all, an SSL certificate gives your customers; the reassurance and the peace of mind that you take their security seriously, any information that they do give you on your website is secure, and that Google recognises your whole website as a 'safe and secure website' (as shown below in the Google Chrome browser image).
However, our ecommerce systems use various Payment Processing Gateways (PayPal for example), in which case, any card details that are taken on the payment processors secure website, meaning that an SSL certificate is not a essential requirement, but still recommended for search engine ranking (see below) and your customers peace of mind. And when you use our Pro+Store, all sensitive information is transmitted via HTTPS secure protocol during checkout, so again, you don't need to install SSL certificate or change anything, the checkout is already secure, but as mentioned above, we still recommend that you seriously consider having an SSL certificate, so the whole website is seen as safe and secure for your customers.
How can an SSL certificate help my Google search engine position?
Because Google recognises your whole website as a 'safe and secure website' (as shown above in the Google Chrome browser) Google prioritises websites over others without SSL Certificates and why, we highly recommend all websites having an SSL certificate, even if you're not selling anything. It's a small price for your customers peace of mind and confidence in your online business.
